Tips For Treating Lice Infestations
- Children with lice should be kept home from school
until the outbreak has been fully treated.
- All recently worn clothing (including underwear, pajamas, and hats), used sheets, pillowcases, and towels should be washed in very hot water or dry-cleaned.
- You can also sterilize other items by placing them
in sealed plastic bags for 14 days. The nits (lice
eggs) will hatch in roughly a week and the lice will die of
starvation.
- Hair care items, such as combs, brushes, and
barrettes, can be soaked in hot, soapy water for 10 minutes
to kill any infestation present.
Tips For Treating Scabies
- Mites can survive on almost any type of surface for
two to three days. Therefore, all areas must be
vacuumed and washed thoroughly, including table tops,
counters, linens, and toys.
- All recently worn clothing (including underwear, pajamas, and hats), used sheets, pillowcases, and towels should be washed in very hot water or dry-cleaned.
- Any difficult to clean items should be sealed in
bags for a week.
